Hiring Hall

Establishing a first source hiring hall for service and hospitality workers and hiring at least 50 percent of service and hospitality employees from specified Kansas City zip codes hit particularly hard by unemployment or underemployment.

Kansas City’s history of racial and economic segregation along the Troost divide has excluded some of the most marginalized Kansas Citians from reaping the benefits of economic development. The Royals, Kansas City Council, and the Jackson County Legislature have an opportunity to break with this history by ensuring that Kansas Citians who are disproportionately under-employed and unemployed have access to good paying, quality jobs at the new Royals’ stadium and surrounding development.
